Inshore:
With winter in the past and spring in the air, look for lots of rain chances and more windy days ahead in April. It can be a challenge to get out some days, but the rewards can outweigh getting wet. Water temperatures will continue to rise and that means the fish will become more active and hungry. Watch the forecasts and have fun out there!
March was an awesome month to enjoy the fishing around Fort Pierce. We are catching a good variety of fish each day. Trout, redfish, mackerel, sheepshead and snapper just to name a few have kept my clients busy and smiling. Sonny, Aiden and Eric had one of those kinds of mornings with lots of fish to keep them busy. Dan and Don also had a good afternoon trip and a good bite. Denny and his group had a similar morning with Kate out-fishing the guys including a couple nice redfish. Mike, Wendy and Cameron also found the fish cooperating on their afternoon adventure. Duncan was back again this year and though we had a challenging day, he caught some nice sheepshead to take home for dinner while we caught up on last years news. It was an exciting week on the water!
Redfish, snook and trout will be more active now that the water has warmed up. Look for a good snook bite at night and early mornings using live baits or top water lures. Redfish and trout will also hit those baits along with DOA shrimp and the Deadly Combo on the grass flats. There are still lots of sheepshead, snapper and mackerel around the inlet and channel edges. Lots of big jacks and ladyfish around the river to keep anyone busy with a fun battle. April should prove to be a super month to enjoy the fishing!
As always, remember, fishing is not just another hobby....it's an ADVENTURE!!
Good Fishing and Be Safe,
