South Indian River Fishing Report 4/14

South Indian River Fishing Report 4/14

Inshore:

We have been enjoying some fantastic weather this week on the Treasure Coast. Days have been warm, but windy as is the norm for April. You usually get a couple days each week that the wind dies down and gives you a chance get out fishing. Rain is always in the forecast this time of year, so watch the weather and plan your trips accordingly. Water temperatures have been in the mid to high 70's. The incoming tides have provided us with our best fishing opportunities lately. It's a great time of year to get out fishing!

Ron and his wife were out on a beautiful morning and they caught trout, sheepshead, snapper, jacks and other species for us. Mark and Dick were out on a windy morning and Dick found a couple nice trout to make for an enjoyable outing. Phillip and his guys were back this year for another fishing adventure. The weather was windy and didn't help us with the fishing. The guys all caught mostly sheepshead, snapper and jacks and we had a great time in spite of mother nature's challenges. Pat Wells and his son, Ethan, were down and the weather was perfect for fishing. Ethan did most of the fishing and landed a 34" snook and three redfish in the 24" to 28" range along with some big jacks. All were released to battle another day. It was another fun week fishing the Indian River!

April is a good time to fish the grass flats for trout and other species. Try a DOA Deadly Combo on the flats anytime during the day. DOA shrimp are great around mangroves, docks and grass flats for a number of species including redfish, snook and trout. The bite has been good when you can get to areas like Bear Point, Harbor Branch and Round Island. On the windy days, work with the winds and tides to you advantage as best you can. Islands can be productive and help get you out of the winds. Have fun and get out fishing soon!

As always, remember, fishing is not just another hobby....it's an ADVENTURE!!

Good Fishing and Be Safe,
