South Indian River Fishing Report 4/22
Inshore:
Summer is almost here already. Lots of sunny days and warm temperatures have awaited us this week on the Treasure Coast. The winds finally let up a bit on several days to even allow the offshore anglers to get out for dolphin, cobia and other species this past week. Nights have still been cooler, but it warms up quick when the sun rises. We have enjoyed a good mixed bag of fish to make for some fun, exciting adventures. Plan your fishing trip soon!
We have caught some nice trout lately. As the big trout arrive for the breeding season, you can find specimens up to the 30" range around the river. Todd and his family were back this year to have a challenge between the gals and guys. The girls found big jacks, bluefish, sheepshead and snapper to keep them busy. The guys finally outdid the gals this year. They landed three trout in the 28 - 29 inch range along with a variety of other fish to take the crown back until next year. Marty, Aiden, Bailey and Noah found the fish biting, but couldn't catch a lot of slot fish this year for dinner. Gus, Christopher and Mark found the same bite. Afternoons were a little slower this week, but the guys caught a lot of fish in spite of conditions. Mike and Mike caught a fat, slot snook to start their day with a variety of species to finish off the morning. It was another fun week on the water!
Harbor Branch, Queen's Cove and Middle Cove have been good for trout this week. Use the DOA Deadly Combo to locate trout. Try mangroves and docks for redfish and snook. DOA shrimp or top water lures at first light can help you hook up with a nice fish. Live bait will work also this time of year. Sheepshead and snapper will be along channel edges, docks and bridges. Jacks, ladyfish and mackerel have been around the inlets. It's a great time of year to enjoy fishing on the Treasure Coast!
As always, remember, fishing is not just another hobby....it's an ADVENTURE!!

South Indian River Fishing Report 4/6
Inshore:
With winter in the past and spring in the air, look for lots of rain chances and more windy days ahead in April. It can be a challenge to get out some days, but the rewards can outweigh getting wet. Water temperatures will continue to rise and that means the fish will become more active and hungry. Watch the forecasts and have fun out there!
March was an awesome month to enjoy the fishing around Fort Pierce. We are catching a good variety of fish each day. Trout, redfish, mackerel, sheepshead and snapper just to name a few have kept my clients busy and smiling. Sonny, Aiden and Eric had one of those kinds of mornings with lots of fish to keep them busy. Dan and Don also had a good afternoon trip and a good bite. Denny and his group had a similar morning with Kate out-fishing the guys including a couple nice redfish. Mike, Wendy and Cameron also found the fish cooperating on their afternoon adventure. Duncan was back again this year and though we had a challenging day, he caught some nice sheepshead to take home for dinner while we caught up on last years news. It was an exciting week on the water!
Redfish, snook and trout will be more active now that the water has warmed up. Look for a good snook bite at night and early mornings using live baits or top water lures. Redfish and trout will also hit those baits along with DOA shrimp and the Deadly Combo on the grass flats. There are still lots of sheepshead, snapper and mackerel around the inlet and channel edges. Lots of big jacks and ladyfish around the river to keep anyone busy with a fun battle. April should prove to be a super month to enjoy the fishing!
As always, remember, fishing is not just another hobby....it's an ADVENTURE!!

South Indian River Fishing Report 4/14
South Indian River Fishing Report 4/14
Inshore:
We have been enjoying some fantastic weather this week on the Treasure Coast. Days have been warm, but windy as is the norm for April. You usually get a couple days each week that the wind dies down and gives you a chance get out fishing. Rain is always in the forecast this time of year, so watch the weather and plan your trips accordingly. Water temperatures have been in the mid to high 70's. The incoming tides have provided us with our best fishing opportunities lately. It's a great time of year to get out fishing!
Ron and his wife were out on a beautiful morning and they caught trout, sheepshead, snapper, jacks and other species for us. Mark and Dick were out on a windy morning and Dick found a couple nice trout to make for an enjoyable outing. Phillip and his guys were back this year for another fishing adventure. The weather was windy and didn't help us with the fishing. The guys all caught mostly sheepshead, snapper and jacks and we had a great time in spite of mother nature's challenges. Pat Wells and his son, Ethan, were down and the weather was perfect for fishing. Ethan did most of the fishing and landed a 34" snook and three redfish in the 24" to 28" range along with some big jacks. All were released to battle another day. It was another fun week fishing the Indian River!
April is a good time to fish the grass flats for trout and other species. Try a DOA Deadly Combo on the flats anytime during the day. DOA shrimp are great around mangroves, docks and grass flats for a number of species including redfish, snook and trout. The bite has been good when you can get to areas like Bear Point, Harbor Branch and Round Island. On the windy days, work with the winds and tides to you advantage as best you can. Islands can be productive and help get you out of the winds. Have fun and get out fishing soon!
