Inshore:
July arrived on the Treasure Coast bringing lots of sunshine, warm weather and great fishing action! It has been hot so far this year and the water temperatures are reaching near 90 degrees in parts of the river. It's that time of year to fish early or late to get the best bite and check out bridges, docks and mangroves for activity. Shade will hold fish! A few degrees in water temps can make a huge difference. The glass minnows are showing up in the river and that will bring lots of hungry predators to feed on them. Plan your trips to get out early!
Don was back this month with his buddies to enjoy the fishing and have fun. It was a hot morning, but the guys found the lane snapper biting and took 14 home for dinner. Clay, Terry and Brian joined me again this year. Clay and Terry found nice redfish along the mangroves along with an assortment of fish to make for a fun morning in spite of a windy day. Keith and Nancy were out on a beautiful morning to learn the area. Both found a nice slot redfish along with a number of other species to make for a productive morning on the water. It has been fun even though it's been hot!
Look for redfish along mangroves and docks this time of year. Trout should be on grass flats early in two to four feet of water. Decent sized snapper are holding around docks and along channel edges. The snook bite has continued to be good around the bridges and jetties. It's catch and release only this time of year. Stay hydrated and use plenty of sunscreen while on the water. Be safe and have fun!
Remember, as always, fishing is not just another hobby……it’s an ADVENTURE!
Good Fishing,
