South Indian River Fishing Report 4/6

Inshore:

While winds continue to blow around the Treasure Coast, April arrives and brings with it more chances of rainy afternoons. Fishing continues to be good around the area if you plan your fishing carefully with the continual change in weather patterns as Spring quickly approaches. April will still have plenty of windy days, but the rainy season will arrive to bring relief to the dry winter we have had.

Royden and Mary Ann finally got to go fishing after several attempts with the weather. They found croakers, sheepshead and snapper biting on their morning to enjoy. Mel, Kayla, Brian and Brian were out for an afternoon trip that found croakers and sheepshead on the catch list on a challenging windy day. Wayne, Carol, Bill and Lydia had a wonderful morning that found pompano, sheepshead, mackerel, and jacks among the many species that they caught. John and Theresa had a beautiful morning. John topped the day off with a nice big black drum and they added sheepshead and croakers to the days catch. Bill and Bill found snook biting early with mackerel, sheepshead, snapper and other species to round out a good day fishing. Richard and Bob were rewarded with two nice pompano that they wanted to target along with sheepshead and snapper to end a great morning. Tom, Frank and Frank Jr. had a nice morning to find sheepshead, jacks, mackerel and snapper biting for the guys. Al, Jake, Kiera and Derek found the motherlode of croakers along with mackerel, sand perch, sheepshead and snapper among the many fish they enjoyed catching. Bob and John each caught their first snook along with mackerel and jacks to make for an awesome day in spite of the winds!

We still continue to catch pompano around the river, but they will be vacating the area before long. Doc's Goofy Jigs or DOA shrimp are good lures for them. The snook bite has continued to be good on the high ends of the tides. The croaker bite has been another good year for us along with sheepshead. The big Spanish mackerel have been coming into the inlet with the tides with the big jacks to bend your rod! It's been an outstanding week on the water!

Remember, fishing is not just another hobby....it's an ADVENTURE!

Thanks and Good Fishing!
