South Indian River Fishing Report 11/18

Hope you enjoyed another gorgeous week of fall weather again! Mild temperatures and sunny skies make for awesome fishing days. Expect similar conditions in the weeks to come. I love this time of year. Tides are still running higher than normal with the recent full moon, but that hasn't hurt the fishing.

John and Gary joined me for a morning adventure to find lots of fish around the area. Trout, redfish, sheepshead, croakers and a nice pompano to top off a fun filled day on the river. The sheepshead and croakers are very nice this year. Look for them around channel edges and deep cuts around the area. Our redfish was hanging under the mangroves as then often are. Even with a lot of short hits on top water lures, the trout are out there on the flats. Switch to the DOA Deadly Combo when the sun get higher in the sky. I haven't skipped many pompano yet, but they are in the river now. Snook fishing has been very good at night around the bridges and jetties. Spanish mackerel should be showing up anytime around the inlet. Fall is always a wonderful time of year to enjoy the fishing on the Treasure Coast. I enjoy the variety of fish available.

Snook season closes on December 15th so don't forget that date. Winter manatee zones are now in effect around Fort Pierce. Fall is a great time to check your guides on the rods and do some maintenance on those reels. I also use this time of year to check dates on flares along with all the other safety equipment in the boat. Check and replenish your medical kit, too. Have a great fall season!

Lots of great fall weather this week around the Treasure Coast! Mild temperatures that make it a pleasure to get out fishing have greeted us lately. Water temps have continued to fall into the seventies. It won't be long until winter arrives! Enjoy this nice weather while it's here and have fun fishing this month!

It's a super time of year to get out early and enjoy the top water fishing. Fish are on the flats early looking for a meal and more likely to hit a top water lure with the cooler water. Switch to a DOA shrimp or CAL jerk bait once the sun is up. The snook bite has been good at night around the jetties and bridges. Look for trout on the grass flats most of the mornings. The croakers are in the river now. Lots of nice fish up to 18" right now. Ron and Kip were out with me on a gorgeous morning and found jacks, ladyfish, croakers, sheepshead and trout to make for a fun time fishing. The jacks have been thick around the turning basin and inlet this week along with ladyfish and blue runners. Try around mangroves and docks for redfish, sheepshead and snapper.

The manatee zone around the Fort Pierce bridges will be in effect on November 15th so watch the date and slow down. Snook season will continue to be open until December 15th so you still have another month to catch a few slot fish. November is always a nice month to fish!
